Cruz and Hermenegildo A. Lampas, Sr., she was early exposed to family and spiritual virtues. Growing under this familial zeal, she completed her primary and secondary studies at the Manila Central University, garnering some awards and citations.

She went on and finished her bachelor's degree in Business Administration, major in Accounting at the University of the East, Manila in 1979 and Bachelor of Laws at the San Beda College in 1984.

A Certified Public Accountant, she worked as Junior Auditor at Carlos Valdes & Co. in 1980; as an Accounting Instructor at the University of the East, Caloocan City in 1981-1983; and as a Financial and Administrative Assistant at the Asia Tech Consultants, Inc. in 1985.

On her admission to the Bar in 1985 with a rating of 86.40%, she engaged in private practice for sometime until she found her true calling in government service when she became part of the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG). She rose from being a Trial Attorney/Associate Solicitor in October 1986-August 1989, to Solicitor in 1989-1997 and to Assistant Solicitor General in 1997-2004.

In her more than 17 years with the OSG, she hurdled through and helped win for the government some of the most significant and trying cases in recent years, such as cases of the Privatization and Management Office (formerly Asset Privatization Trust) and the Philippine Commission on Good Government (PCGG), and those wherein the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the Expanded Value Added Tax Law, the veto power of the President, and the President's ratification of the World Trade Organization Agreements.

At 43 years of age, she was appointed by the President on February 4, 2004 as Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals.

Justice Fernanda Lampas Peralta is happily married to Associate Justice Diosdado Madarang Peralta of the Supreme Court, a native of Laoag, Ilocos Norte, with whom she is blessed with four children namely Dorothy, twins John Christopher and Timothy John, and John Isaac.
