Justice Rodil V. Zalameda started from humble beginnings. He finished his primary
and secondary education from the public school system and took up his tertiary education at the
University of the East. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University
at the age of twenty-three (23) through a scholarship grant. A member of the Fraternal Order of
Utopia, he also served as Associate Editor of the Ateneo Law Journal and was a senior staff member of
the Ateneo Law Bulletin.
Justice Zalameda took the bar in 1987 and passed the same in 1988 at the age of 24.
The same year, he became part of the Judiciary as a Branch Clerk in the City of Makati, and later
pursued private practice for five (5) years. Thereafter, he returned to government service as
Prosecutor I in 1995 at the City Prosecutor’s Office, Mandaluyong City, rose from the ranks until his
appointment as City Prosecutor of Mandaluyong City in August 2002. As part of his commitment as an
advocate of education, he taught Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at the Jose Rizal University
College of Law. He was awarded as one of the Ten (10) Outstanding Pillars of Justice given by the
Rotary Club of Diliman in 2006 for his exemplary work in the public prosecution service. On
September 11, 2008, then City Prosecutor Zalameda became an Associate Justice of the Court of
Appeals.
Born on August 02, 1963, he is married to Ma. Vilma A. Zalameda and they are
blessed with one child, Jasper.
