The Accounting Division

By Carmencita C. Angelo

If one were to go over the myriad of duties and functions of the Accounting Division of the Court of Appeals, he would be amazed that such a small coterie of government workers could cope with the stupendous workload that it grapples with every day.

While the number of our Justices has substantially increased over the years, especially with the creation of the Cebu and Cagayan de Oro City offices, the division’s personnel complement has not appreciably changed since 1989.

Current trends and development in the government accounting system have made the already demanding tasks of the Accounting staff even more burdensome, which require that every personnel, at the very least, be computer literate. Relative thereto, the implementation of the Electronic New Government Accounting System commenced in December 2006, with a five-day functional training of accounting personnel. The actual roll-out, which started in June 2007, is still going on.

Yours truly is proud that ours is an Accounting Division that fervidly strives to do its work well and whose staff are honest, efficient and hardworking. Indeed, the Accounting Division has maintained the highest standards of honesty, objectivity, and consistency in keeping the books of the Court.
