(A Dream Come True)

The Association of Court of
Appeals Employees scored a milestone in the Court of Appeals history
when for the first time ever it was able to get the Court’s nod
to the holding of a two-day teambuilding activity for employees in
the Summer Capital of the Philippines – Baguio City.
On board four CA buses, 159
employees, including Clerk of Court Atty. Elisa B. Pilar-Longalong
and Division Clerk of Court Atty. Teresita C. Custodio, left
CA-Manila at 1:30 p.m. on March 16, 2007 to set off to the CA
Compound in Baguio City. The following morning, the PJ arrived just
in time to join in the daylong activities starting with the picture
takings at the Mansion House and Wright Park. A visit to the Good
Shepherd Convent followed so that employees who would want to buy
some of its famous delicacies could do so.
The group then proceeded to
the Philippine Military Academy to watch the graduation ceremonies of
Class 2007 where we were given VIP treatment. PJ Reyes was welcomed
by no less than the Superintendent of the Philippine Military
Academy, Major General Leopoldo L. Maligalig, while court employees
were even escorted to the stage. All were emotional in watching the
cadets perform their military drill.
After having lunch in Camp
John Hay, we then traveled to La Trinidad, Benguet to see the
strawberry farms and to visit the Bell Church.
Our tour of the City was made more orderly by tour guides from the Baguio City Tourism Office
and two members of the Baguio Police who served as our escorts.
After dinner, the teambuilding proper started with a cultural show from a
group of students from the Baguio City Tourism Office. Clad in their
native “bahag” while performing a tribal dance,
the employees could not help but dance along with the students. PJ
Reyes delivered a pep talk and thereafter, the ball started to roll.
A series of activities like group presentations and games were held -
all of which were intended to develop group dynamics and promote
cooperation and camaraderie among the employees. It was a fun-filled
event that ended around midnight. All had a wonderful time including
the CA-Baguio employees. The latter were even quoted for saying,
“Ngayon lang namin naramdaman na empleyado pala kami ng CA.”
This memorable event would
not have been possible if not for the kindness of the Justices, the
effort and cooperation of the officials as well as the CA-Baguio
staff and the unwavering trust and support of the employees. Our
sincerest thanks to all of you. We would also like to thank the
Philippine Military Academy, Camp John Hay and the Baguio City
Tourism Office for the assistance they extended us.
Special mention goes to
Justices Remedios Salazar-Fernando, Normandie Pizarro and Elvi John
Asuncion who exerted time and effort in helping the ACAE accomplish
this activity. Of course, we give greater praise to our beloved
Presiding Justice Ruben T. Reyes, without whose approval and
participation, this undertaking would not have turn out to be a
fruitful, successful and memorable one.
Most of all, we thank the
Almighty for his guidance throughout our whole journey.
