Stress Management, etc.

by: Atty. Marie Claire Victoria Mabutas Sordan

Last March 27, 2007, members of the Court were treated to a seminar denominated as “Stress Management through Meditation” which may well be considered a retreat (inasmuch as that it was held a week before the Holy Week) given by the renowned healing priest Fr. Corsie S. Legaspi. The seminar which was a brainchild of Hon. Justices Jose C. Reyes and Jose Mendoza, Jr., was held from 2 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Conference Room (PH) of the New Annex Building. It was attended by, among others, the Hon. Pres. Justice Ruben T. Reyes himself.

During the seminar, the Honorable Justices were asked to take tests—answer questionnaires, first, to determine their personality profiles, and then to determine or pinpoint their sources of stress, and then also to determine their levels of stress.

Towards the end of the seminar, Fr. Corsie--who made it a point to comment on how impressed he was that most of the Justices were not as stressed out as he had imagined--gave the members of the Court, tips on how to relax/meditate to beat stress/de-stress. Notably, some of the methods of relaxation can even be done for as short as ten minutes or so.

Incidentally, this was not the first time that the noted healing priest made an appearance at the Court. Shortly before Christmas, on December 15, 2006 to be exact, upon the invitation of a group of division clerks of court, Fr. Corsie Legaspi, also conducted a healing mass/session from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the auditorium of the Centennial Building.

At this juncture, yours truly would like to greet Fr. Corsie Legaspi who is celebrating his anniversary on May 10. He was ordained priest on May 10, 1975.

For those who may not have heard of him, Rev. Fr. Corsie S. Legaspi, is a healing priest known not only in the Philippines but worldwide. Fr. Corsie founded and is now ably assisted by the Pinagpalang Kamay Healing Ministry, which is composed of about 50 members fully dedicated to the apostolate of helping the sick. Fr. Corsie Legaspi travels not only around the Philippines, but also around the world, healing the sick.

He specializes in what he calls “instant healing” as yours truly personally experienced the same the first time she attended one of Fr. Corsie’s healing sessions at the CHRC (Coming Home Retreat Center) at Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite, which is about a year ago. Prior to being healed, she has been perpetually bothered by her bad back—not a day passes that she does not experience and complain of back pains. Now, she very seldom experiences back aches.

Rev. Fr. Corsie also counts among his specialties, “frozen shoulders.” Fr. Corsie is likewise known to have healed countless cases of cancer, asthma, psoriasis, etc.

For the record, it is not only yours truly who personally experienced Fr. Corsie’s healing. Even members of her family have benefited from Fr. Corsie’s “instant healing”. Truth to tell, even my mother-in-law (for whom we sought out Fr. Corsie) who was in the hospital and in a very critical condition, was healed—and by proxy at that--when she was not even expected to survive a third surgery. Indeed, we consider that a miracle…even her doctor said so. Only by God’s grace and mercy, as Fr. Corsie would say.

Besides the gift of healing, Fr. Corsie also has the gift of communication. Truth to tell, he inculcates in his flock not only moral but also practical values. Indeed, there is no doubt that this healing priest, who in the 1980's was excused by Bishop Felix Perez (of the Diocese of Imus) from performing parish duties to devote his full time to a healing ministry, has touched innumerable lives.
